By following this Code of Conduct, students are able to create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and mutual respect. The Code of Conduct applies to all students who participate in Medic Mentor programmes and activities, and is designed to ensure that all members of the community are treated with fairness and respect.

Welcome to Medic Mentor, a community of aspiring healthcare professionals dedicated to achieving academic and personal excellence. As members of this community, we strive to uphold the highest standards of integrity, respect, and responsibility. In order to foster a safe and supportive learning environment, we have established a Student Code of Conduct that outlines the guidelines and expectations for all students participating in Medic Mentor programmes and activities. This Code of Conduct serves as a reminder of our commitment to academic integrity, ethical behavior, and respect for one another. By adhering to these standards, we can work together to achieve our goals and support each other in our journey towards a successful career in healthcare.

The purpose of Medic Mentor’s Student Code of Conduct is to provide a clear set of guidelines and expectations for all students participating in Medic Mentor programmes and activities. The Code of Conduct is designed to ensure that all members of the community are treated with fairness, respect, and professionalism. The scope of the Code of Conduct extends to all aspects of student behavior, including academic integrity, ethical conduct, use of resources, and interactions with other members of the community. The Code of Conduct also outlines the disciplinary procedures that may be taken if a student violates any of the guidelines set forth in these guidelines. By following this Code of Conduct, students can create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and mutual respect. Additionally, the Code of Conduct serves to reinforce the values and principles that are essential for success in healthcare professions, including honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior.

Student Responsibilities and Conduct Expectations are central to the success of the Medic Mentor community. As a student, it is your responsibility to uphold the highest standards of behavior and professionalism, both in and out of the classroom. This includes being respectful to your peers, mentors, teachers, and staff, and maintaining a positive attitude towards learning and personal growth. You are expected to attend all scheduled workshops, conferences, meetings, and activities, and to come prepared and on time. You are also expected to actively participate in discussions, ask questions, and contribute to the learning process of yourself and your peers. Additionally, you are responsible for maintaining academic integrity and ethical behavior at all times. This means completing all of your coursework and exams honestly and to the best of your ability, and refraining from any form of academic misconduct, such as plagiarism or cheating. Finally, you are expected to adhere to all Medic Mentor policies and procedures, as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct and other relevant documents. By fulfilling these responsibilities and conduct expectations, you can contribute to the success of the Medic Mentor community and help create a supportive and professional learning environment for yourself and your peers.

Academic integrity and honesty are essential to maintaining the standards of excellence and professionalism in the Medic Mentor community. As a student, you are expected to uphold the highest levels of academic integrity in all aspects of your work. This means that you should always complete your coursework and exams honestly and to the best of your ability, without resorting to any form of academic misconduct such as plagiarism, cheating, or fabrication of data. Plagiarism, in particular, is a serious offense that undermines the integrity of your work and that of the Medic Mentor community as a whole. Therefore, it is important that you always properly cite and reference any sources that you use in your work at school or for magazine articles, and that you never submit work that has been copied from others or that misrepresents your own efforts. If you are unsure about what constitutes plagiarism or academic misconduct, you should consult with your mentors, teachers or academic advisor for guidance. By maintaining academic integrity and honesty, you not only fulfill your responsibility as a student but also uphold the principles and values that are essential for success in healthcare professions.

Respect for diversity and inclusion is a core value of the Medic Mentor community. We recognise that every individual has unique qualities, experiences, and perspectives that contribute to the richness of our community. As a student, it is important that you respect and value the diversity of your peers and that you promote an inclusive and welcoming learning environment. This means treating everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or any other characteristic. It also means being open-minded and willing to learn from others, and being willing to challenge your own assumptions and biases. Additionally, you are expected to refrain from any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying, whether verbal, physical, or online. If you witness or experience any form of discrimination or harassment, it is important that you report it to a Chief Mentor, safeguarded, scholar or administrator immediately. By fostering a culture of respect for diversity and inclusion, we can create a safe and supportive learning environment that values the contributions of all members of the Medic Mentor community.

The use of Medic Mentor’s resources and facilities is a privilege that comes with certain responsibilities. As a student, you are expected to use these resources and facilities responsibly and with respect for the needs and rights of other members of the community. This includes using the facilities and equipment for their intended purposes only, and following all relevant policies and procedures for their use. You are also expected to protect and preserve the resources and facilities for future use by other members of the community, by avoiding any behavior that may cause damage or loss to them. Additionally, you are responsible for safeguarding any personal belongings that you bring into Medic Mentor facilities, and for ensuring their safety and security. Any misuse or abuse of Medic Mentor’s resources and facilities may result in disciplinary action, including the revocation of privileges or legal action. By using Medic Mentor’s resources and facilities responsibly and respectfully, you can contribute to the maintenance of a safe and productive learning environment for yourself and your peers.

Prohibited conduct refers to any behavior or action that is in violation of the Medic Mentor Student Code of Conduct, and may result in disciplinary action. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to, academic misconduct, discrimination, harassment, bullying, theft, vandalism, use of drugs or alcohol, or any behavior that disrupts the learning environment of others. If you are found to be in violation of the Student Code of Conduct, you may be subject to disciplinary procedures, which can include but are not limited to, verbal warnings, written warnings, probation, suspension, or expulsion from Medic Mentor programmes or activities.

Before any disciplinary action is taken, you will be notified of the alleged violation and given an opportunity to respond. You may also have the right to appeal any disciplinary decision that is made. It is important to note that disciplinary proceedings are separate from any legal proceedings that may arise from the same incident. Medic Mentor reserves the right to involve law enforcement agencies if necessary, and to cooperate with any legal investigation related to prohibited conduct.

Disciplinary procedures are designed to ensure that all members of the Medic Mentor community are treated fairly and equitably, and that the integrity of the learning environment is maintained. If you are unsure about any aspect of the Student Code of Conduct, or if you witness or experience any prohibited conduct, you should contact a Chief Mentor, Safeguarding Officer, Scholar or administrator for guidance and support. By following the Student Code of Conduct and contributing to a safe and respectful learning environment, you can help ensure the success of the Medic Mentor community.

Sanctions for violations of the Medic Mentor Student Code of Conduct are intended to be educational and corrective, as well as disciplinary. The severity of the sanction will depend on the nature and gravity of the violation, as well as any mitigating or aggravating factors. Sanctions may include but are not limited to verbal or written warning, mandatory counselling, restitution, community service, probation, suspension, or expulsion from Medic Mentor programmes or activities. In the case of academic misconduct, sanctions may include a reduction in grade, or failure of the course.

In determining appropriate sanctions, Medic Mentor considers various factors, such as the student’s past disciplinary record, the impact of the violation on others, the student’s level of responsibility for the violation, and the student’s willingness to take responsibility for their actions and make amends. In cases where the violation is particularly serious, or where the student poses a threat to the safety or well-being of others, immediate suspension or expulsion may be necessary.

It is important to note that sanctions for violations of the Student Code of Conduct are separate from any legal sanctions that may result from the same incident. Additionally, sanctions may be reviewed and adjusted at any time based on new information or changed circumstances.

If you are found to be in violation of the Student Code of Conduct, it is important that you take responsibility for your actions and cooperate fully with any disciplinary proceedings. By doing so, you can help ensure that the sanctions imposed are fair and appropriate, and that you have the opportunity to learn from your mistakes and become a responsible and ethical member of the Medic Mentor community.

At Medic Mentor, we strive to provide a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. However, if you feel that you have been unfairly treated, discriminated against, or harassed, you have the right to file a grievance.

The following steps outline the grievance procedure for students:

Step 1: Informal Resolution If you have a grievance, your first step should be to try to resolve the issue informally with the individual(s) involved. This may involve a discussion or meeting to clarify the situation and find a mutually agreeable solution.

Step 2: Formal Grievance If an informal resolution is not possible, you may file a formal grievance. This involves submitting a written statement detailing the nature of the grievance, the individuals involved, and any evidence or documentation to support your claim. You should submit your grievance to a Chief Operating Officer, who will investigate the matter and may convene a meeting with all parties involved to discuss the issue and find a resolution.

Step 3: Appeal If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the formal grievance process, you may appeal the decision to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Medic Mentor. You should submit your appeal in writing within five working days of receiving the decision of the Chief Operating Officer. The CEO will review the case and may request additional information or convene a meeting with all parties involved to discuss the matter further.

Step 4: Final Appeal If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the appeal to the CEO, you may make a final appeal to the Board of Directors of Medic Mentor. Your final appeal must be submitted in writing within five working days of receiving the decision of the CEO. The Board of Directors will review the case and may request additional information or convene a meeting with all parties involved to discuss the matter further.

It is important to note that all grievances will be treated confidentially, and no student will be retaliated against for filing a grievance. Additionally, any retaliation or interference with the grievance process may result in disciplinary action.

At Medic Mentor, we take all grievances seriously and are committed to resolving them in a fair and equitable manner. By following the grievance procedure, you can help ensure that your concerns are heard and addressed appropriately, and that you can continue to learn and grow in a supportive environment.

The Medic Mentor Student Code of Conduct is subject to review and amendment from time to time to ensure that it remains relevant and effective. Any proposed amendments to the Code of Conduct will be communicated to students in a timely and transparent manner, and students will have an opportunity to provide feedback and make suggestions.

The Chief Operating Officers are responsible for leading the review and amendment process, which may involve consultation with students, staff, and other stakeholders as appropriate. Any amendments to the Code of Conduct will be approved by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board of Directors of Medic Mentor.

Students are expected to be familiar with and abide by the current version of the Student Code of Conduct at all times. Any changes to the Code of Conduct will be communicated to students through email, the Medic Mentor website, or other appropriate channels.

It is important to note that any amendments to the Code of Conduct will not apply retroactively. The version of the Code of Conduct in effect at the time of the alleged violation will be applied in any disciplinary proceedings.

By regularly reviewing and amending the Student Code of Conduct, Medic Mentor can ensure that it remains relevant and effective in promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students. Students are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions to help improve the Code of Conduct and ensure that it reflects the values and expectations of the Medic Mentor community.
